A flurry of damning letters

A FLURRY OF DAMNING LETTERS

A lot of bad medicine had to be swallowed by the great and the good towards the end of last week. This took the form of some very powerful letters.

There was one from “Mums4Medics” reporting Professor Alan Crockard to the GMC.

A letter of resignation from Professor Crockard to Sir Liam Donaldson soon followed.

Soliciters acting on behalf of Remedy UK, a campaign representing over 9000 doctors who have lost confidence in in the implementation of MMC communicated with Professor Neil Douglas, Chairman of the Review of Recruitment and Selection for Specialty and GP Training. This advised Professor Douglas that a letter would be on his desk this morning questioning the legality of new proposals.

Two letters were written by the ex-medical student adviser to MMC. One to Professor Alan Crockard on 18/03/2007 informing him of his resignation. The student followed this up with a particularly damning letter to the CMO on 31/03/2007.

The DOH had previously refused to disclose information revealing the real motives behind MMC and the sub-consultant grade. A letter has been sent to Professor Liam Donaldson challenging this refusal.

The Witch Doctor’s notion is that this link between MMC/Subconsultant grade/predominant female workforce is the crux of all the recent problems. Whether it turns out to be a particularly pernicious link remains to be seen.

Copies of most of this correspondence can be found at the link to “The Ferret Fancier” “Dr Crippen” “FrontPoint Systems and ” Aphra Behn” on my Blogroll.
