THE LOST TRIBES - GAME SET AND …………
Still a few of the Lost Tribe were turning up their noses at their treats. Great Uncle MMC was becoming annoyed but didn’t show it. The new MMC system would not work unless it was competency based. Indeed the future of the NHS depended on this. He was finding it difficult to sell this to the Lost Tribe. Then he had a brilliant idea.
He would offer them all a new name. You see, the Lost Tribes enjoyed their work but sometimes didn’t like how they were regarded by their collleagues.
Great Uncle MMC would change all that.
“If you have your competencies measured by giving us all the documents we ask for and filling in many more, I’ll ensure you are all given new names.”
“What names, Great Uncle MMC?”
“You will all have different names. You will be known as Dr A, Urologist, or Dr B, Opthalmologist, Dr C, Cardiologist or Dr D, Psychiatrist, depending on your competencies. We may have to make up some new specialties if you competencies are in a very narrow field. You will be given a new status and colleagues and patients will think very highly of you. This is why we must measure your competencies. We will, if you wish, train you in new competencies.”
“We will be different from the Junior Doctors in training?”
“They will have a more strenuous but shorter training after which time they will have more competencies than you will be able to gather. They will then be given a “Certificate of all the Competencies” and from then on they will be very much in demand. “
“You mean, Great Uncle MMC, they will be the fast track doctors, fully competent doctors?”
“Just so.
“What will be the titles of the fast track doctors once they become consultants?”
They will be known as Dr E, Urologist, or Dr F, Opthalmologist, Dr G, Cardiologist or Dr H, Psychiatrist, depending on their competencies.
“But you said they were to be our new names! Patients and staff won’t be able to tell us from the consultants if we use these titles.”
“Exactly!”
