The Witch Doctor thanks you, Dr Rant and Dr Rantett, for drawing attention to a rather unusual advert placed by Addenbrooke’s Hospital for a “Full Time or Part Time Band 7 Surgical Care Practitioner in Plastics and Plastic Reconstruction Surgery.”
THE ADVERT
Here is an extract from the advert:
“You will practice under the supervision and direction of the Consultant Surgeons, participating and assisting in operative procedures and pre and postoperative care as necessary including clinics / outpatient care. This role will be unique in that it is the first of its kind within the Trust and we would anticipate further development of this role and others if this is successful.
‘A first, a trial, a test case, a precedent,’ thinks The Witch Doctor.
“You should hold a relevant professional qualification, current NMC registration and be able to provide evidence of continuing professional development at degree level. It is also essential that you have substantial post-registration experience.
‘What relevant qualifications are these?’ wonders The Witch Doctor.
And must have NMC registration………..
‘Would GMC registration do instead?’ wonders The Witch Doctor.
“This role requires you to undertake appropriate training and assessment in the competencies required to undertake the role with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge. You will be expected to sit any examination or assessment deemed appropriate by The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS of Eng) and British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).”
