The Witch Doctor senses that the terms “professional” and “elite” are becoming politically incorrect, and that the seeds are being sown that vocational qualifications are just as good as or better than professional ones.
Vocational qualifications may well be more vulnerable to government intervention, manipulation and control. This is what we are seeing now with the creation of “Quangos” or Arms Length Bodies.” such as “Skills for Health”. Indeed PMETB could be regarded as an “Arms Length Body” designed to introduce government control of professionalism.
