Lean or Rotund healthcare

THE 50 YEAR VISITATION

You last saw your GP in 1951?

Yes.

But that’s more than half a century ago!

Yes.

When did you see your GP before 1951?

About 1910.

Before the First World War?

Yes.

Why do you not go to see your GP more often.

I don’t want to waste his time, My Black Cat. A visit twice per century is quite enough.

And I’m not ill. I just feel crap. Crapiness (crappiness?) isn’t illness.

COUNTING LEAN-NESS

What are you counting, My Black Cat?

You want to know how many patients will be seen per week by a GP who has a list of 2000 patients, who attend twice a century?

2000 patients per GP, each visiting twice per century = 4000 visits per century.

Number of patient visits per year = 4000/100 = 40

Number of patient visits per week = 0.769230769.

So if all patients were like The Witch Doctor, each GP would see on average just more than three quarters of a patient per week.

The DOH might be interested in our Lean Approach to Health care.

No, No, My Black Cat. The DOH wants “clients” to continuously seek healthcare from a whole range of health care workers. They call it “Preventive Medicine.”

Without “The Clients” and “The Preventive Medicine” and “The Worried Well” and “The Something Will Need to be Done” the multinational health care companies wouldn’t be waiting in the wings.

The big multinational healthcare companies need rotund, not lean.

Am I confusing you, My Black Cat?
