Doctors are responsible for dirty wards

KEEPING A HOSPITAL PRISTINE AFTER “THE DEEP CLEAN”

Consider this, My Black Cat………

Could a ward be run without doctors?

Could an operating theatre be run without doctors?

Could an accident and emergency department be run without doctors?

Could a pathology department be run without doctors?

Could an ITU be run without doctors?

Could a hospital be run without doctors?

A NICE CLEAN PLACE WITHOUT DOCTORS

Yes?

You think that’s possible?

You think it’s possible if no patients were admitted?

But a hospital without patients is not a hospital, My Black Cat.

You think, clients, not patients could be admitted?

What kind of clients?

The worried well.

The worried well are patients, My Black Cat. Not Clients.

They are patients who need doctors to diagnose worried wellness.

Worried wellness can often be a difficult diagnosis that often requires a very experienced doctor.

Only after the diagnosis of worried wellness, can they become clients.

And then they really have no requirement for a hospital.

You are being particularly thick today, My Black Cat.

No doctors = No patients = No staff = No hospital = Permanently Deeply Cleaned Place that is no longer a hospital.

You don’t suppose this is what Alan Johnson has in mind, My Black Cat?

Dear me. The Witch Doctor is having a ramble into confusion!

There is now so much twaddle & waste in the NHS that it needs dramatic action to stop it. The only thing I can think of is to implement something akin to ‘decimation’, as practised by the highly successful Roman army.

If decimation is good, then double decimation must be better. Slash the NHS budget by 20%. The only way to survive will be to sack the huge numbers of people delivering junk like the HAN programme & apply remaining resources to doing something useful.

Anyway - where is Dr Crippen? Is he OK? I am worried about him.

The ‘our NHS, our future’ page has disappeared black cat! What have you done?

Ray,

Yes, the wastage must now be phenomenal - in consultancies, unrealistic aborted plans, and a management structure that works like a yo-yo much of the time. Not to mention a series of spreadsheets each so isolated that the knock on effect of one paltry saving can result in a massive expenditure elsewhere.

Maybe the Roman’s were right. I used to think a crisis would focus minds, but it would have to be a monumental one to get noticed nowadays.

Dr Crippen is a concern. I don’t believe he so overworked that he can’t write the odd post. And I don’t believe he has lost the muse. He seemed extremely committed to good patient care, and that presumably was the reason behind his blog. Prolonged overwork would surely just have led to a cut back on the number of postings.

He may be experiencing one of the bad events that life throws at us and if this is the case, I’m sure everyone wishes him well and would not want to intrude in any way.

I am concerned, though, that he has been told to stop blogging and have my thoughts on why this might be. If this is the case, then perhaps he needs some support, but he will need to let us know. I wondered if he is letting us know through the “rogue” blog that has appeared in his name. Time will tell if that is the case. I can’t think of many reasons why someone else would want to cut and paste his old material in this way, although there are some.

Sam,

My Black Cat is purring because she thinks she has rattled cages and they have taken the document down.

I told her it might just be a broken link. If that’s the case it will appear again no doubt although its not being picked up on a search either at the moment.

PS The Witch Doctor has a copy somewhere.
