CELEBRATING THE WILLOW TREE
It’s Catkin Time again!
Every year for many milleniums, we witches and our cats, apart from a few who remain on-call, take off on holiday. It’s “The Broomstick Holiday” - a great celebration feast when we pay homage to the willow trees growing all over the temperate regions of our planet. For without these willow trees we would all be grounded. These trees produce the magic twigs for our broomsticks. The willow tree is very special. Unlike every other known tree, only willow twigs will safely fly. But they will only produce flying twigs if we witches cast The Old Catkin Spell at some time during the middle of March when The Catkins are in full bloom.
So, we always have one day working really flat out with The Old Catkin Spell. It’s a demanding spell to do, so afterwards we take a whole week’s break when we all just chill out, nattering to each other and to our black cats.

THE BROOMSTICK HOLIDAY HAT
Since the beginning of time, we witches have always worn A New Hat on this occasion. This is the origin of “The Easter Bonnet” no doubt.
This is the hat I’m wearing this year along with a purple broomstick I always bring out for the occasion.
Come on, My Black Cat, let’s go.
Why are we bothering to explain all this to The Humankind.
They don’t really understand.
Do they?
Just tell them we’ll be gone for a week!
