THE LIE SPINNERS
Spinning is a form of lying. A form of deceit.
Gordon Brown, spinning does not sit comfortably with your Scottish ancestry.
Sure, there are a few aberrant Scots who spin. But there are many, many more who don’t. Spinning Scots are not taken seriously in their homeland. Spinners are mostly despised in Scotland.
And you know that!
So what are you going to do about spin?
Are you going to encourage it, stamp it out, or turn a blind eye?
The Witch Doctor is watching you very carefully on the matter of Spin. On the matter of Lie Spinning. On the matter of Lying.
Well, Mr Brown, are you Lie Spinner or not? A Scottish Lie Spinner?
Or will history remember you as the PM who brought an end to the “Spinning Era?”
And, Alan Johnson, are you a Lie Spinner or not?
The Witch Doctor is watching you too.
And getting to work on a “Lie Spinning Spell.”
Just in case.
FOR STARTERS, HERE IS SOME SPIN!
“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to RETURN THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MEDICAL TRAINING TO THE ROYAL COLLEGES.”
“Submitted by Dr Neel Burton – Deadline to sign up by: 19 April 2007 – Signatures: 11,177”
“You recently signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to “RETURN THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MEDICAL TRAINING TO THE ROYAL COLLEGES.”
The Prime Minister’s Office has responded thus:”
“The medical Royal Colleges (mRCs) have an important and continuing role in medical training within the UK. However, training within the NHS has never been the responsibility solely of the mRCs. For example, employment matters and delivery fall within the remit of service providers, as does ensuring that standards are maintained locally.”
“So?….. What exactly are you trying to say? What’s new about that?” says The Witch Doctor.
“There are now national standards applicable to all postgraduate medical education and training. These standards are overseen by an independent body, the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB). As well as ensuring that the views of mRCs are taken into consideration, PMETB also has a statutory duty to consider the needs of patients and the NHS.”
“So?….. What exactly are you trying to say? We know that PMETB exists! We know it was pushed through as a Statutory Body.” says The Witch Doctor.
“The Chief Medical Officer discussed the regulation of medical education in his report, Good Doctors, Safer Patients, and there was a wide consultation on his recommendations. In response to that consultation, the Government has stated its policy in the recent White Paper, Trust, Assurance and Safety – The Regulation of Health Professionals (new window), which can be viewed online.
“So?….. What exactly are you trying to say? That if PMETB was introduced and there are any problems, it is the CMO’s fault? That there was wide consultation regarding PMETB? That these consultations were taken into account? Is that what you are trying to say?” says The Witch Doctor.
“Spinning Liars!!!” says The Witch Doctor.
Thanks to Dr Grumble for bringing this to the Blogosphere’s attention.
The Witch Doctor will expand on this Lie Spin tomorrow, or the next day.
After a good nights sleep!!
