PATIENT CENTRED CARE

You’ve found it, have you, My Black Cat?

NHS magic?

You can gather competencies in NHS magic?

Can you?

Reiki.

What’s Reiki?

REIKI – WIKIPEDIA

“A Japanese Tendai Buddhist named Mikao Usui is understood to have discovered Reiki in 1922[71] after a twenty-one day retreat on Mount Kurama, involving meditation, fasting, and prayer.[6] Usui claimed that by mystical revelation he had gained the knowledge and spiritual power to apply and attune others to what is called Reiki. Many years earlier, as a young monk, Usui had studied kiko (the Japanese equivalent of Qigong), and practised a healing method based on that discipline.[72] Usui said that the awakening of Reiki and the development of his techniques was something entirely different.[73]

In April of 1922, Usui moved to Tokyo and founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Usui Reiki Healing Society), an organization which exists to this day.”

I see…….

And Reiki can be used to treat animals……

And plants too…….

You can have whole body treatment, localised treatment, informal treatment, self treatment, and group treatment……

Fancy that!

And what conditions does it treat?

You’re not sure, My Black Cat?

Well, have there been any scientific studies performed?

Studies in the UK?

Yes?

An NHS study?

Yes?

“A preliminary study at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, South Glasgow University Hospital NHS Trust, found that heart rate and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly in people who received 30 minutes of Reiki, compared to those who received a placebo intervention or 30 minutes of rest; However, due to the small number of patients involved (a total of 45 divided between the three groups) and the relatively small changes detected, the report concludes that further studies are needed.”

Yes, but you know that The Witch Doctor only acknowledges peer reviewed studies published in conventional scientific literature, not Journals of Alternative Medicine.

What evidence is there for the effectiveness of Reiki in the convenional medical or scientific literature?

You can’t find any, My Black Cat?

Keep looking.
