Mr Bradshaw is well pleased

witch10.jpg

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

Do as I say, not as I do……..

Doctors doth protest so much……..

Until……

Duty tells them to enter the arena……….

To keep out the opposition……….

The lesser of two evils……….

This is the way of the medical profession………

Always………..

This is the way of the government………..

Always…………

There are always doctors behind every political “success” within the NHS.

The Humankind call it Pragmatism.

We witches call it Creep.

Mr Bradshaw is well pleased.

“Health minister Ben Bradshaw said the news represented confirmation that the government was right to pursue the policy.

“I am delighted by this vote of confidence from the head of the BMA in the new GP-led health centre programme.”

We knew this would happen…

Polyclinics, to Darzi Centres to Health Centres to Healthcare NHS Collaboratives.

What’s in a name?

THE CREEP…….

It didn’t take long……

Did it, My Black Cat?

“Each country has the government it deserves”.

This, My Black Cat, as we have said before, is not a stupid government!

  1. This is another classic case of a member of the government saying something that is not actually true. If he cared to look into the reason why the Chairman of the BMA was involved in the consortium that has won the contract, perhaps he wouldn’t be so smug. It is probable that this will be a health centre that is being run for the patients rather than shareholders. That being said, it will be interesting to see whether it makes any difference to how patients use the NHS in the area and whether it is cost-effective or a cost-cow.

  2. The Chairman of the BMA has been put in a difficult position by his partners and other local GP’s and the question I suppose, is whether GP opinion is changing and whether the BMA’s stance is changing as a result.

However, I think the pragmatic approach is the one that governments lie in wait for, and might even try to manipulate.

There are times the medical profession needs to say “no” loud and clear without wavering and I think this is one of these occasions. The big question though is whether Dr Meldrum’s town needs a polyclinic or not, and this is not really clear. Presumably it doesn’t or he would not have felt the need to distance himself from the decision.
