Harriet Harman : Lessons need to be learned

A witchy kind of Pleb could surely be forgiven for wondering why Harriet Harman is now speaking out so loudly for a public inquiry into the allegations surrounding Jimmy Savile.

I suppose it’s because, as always, “lessons need to be learned”.

Has Harriet Harman already learned a lesson?

When much younger in the 1970’s was she so punch drunk with the complex ideas surrounding the meaning of “liberty” that she crept into a situation where she allowed herself, through the pressure group the “National Council for Civil Liberties” now known as “Liberty” to affiliate herself with the pro-paedophilia groups PIE and PAL as mentioned in the previous post?

The Telegraph is picking up on this today:

“Harriet Harman, the Opposition deputy leader, said the allegations that the late TV and radio presenter abused dozens of young boys and girls had “cast a stain” on the BBC and other trusted institutions.

But at the time Savile was at the height of his fame, Miss Harman was calling for the relaxation of the law on child pornography.

She was a leading light in the pressure group now known as Liberty, which advocated the lowering of the age of consent to 14.

The organisation, then run by the Health Secretary under Tony Blair, Patricia Hewitt, even counted among its affiliates a number of extreme pro-paedophilia groups whose leaders were later jailed.

It means that any independent public inquiry into the culture that allowed Savile to abuse children for so long with impunity, could end up looking into the radical left-wing demands for the liberalisation of child sex laws that were made in the 1970s.”

Can a witchy kind of Pleb be forgiven for thinking that it is time for Harriet Harman and Patricia Hewitt, an ex Secretary of State for Health after all, to let her and the rest of the country know exactly what was going through their heads during the time that they appeared to be embracing PIE and PAL?

“By 1978 PIE and Paedophile Action for Liberation had become affiliated to The National Council for Civil Liberties, later re-branded as Liberty, with members attending meetings. The organisation was headed by future Labour Government Minister Patricia Hewitt and it campaigned against newspapers’ treatment of the Paedophile activist groups. Whilst affiliated with NCCL, PIE also campaigned to reduce the age of consent and oppose the proposed banning of child pornography, with future Labour Minister Harriet Harman arguing that “childhood sexual experiences, willingly engaged in, with an adult result in no identifiable damage” and that the 1978 Protection of Children Act would lead to “damaging and absurd prosecutions”. Whilst PIE was affiliated with it, the organisation argued for incest to be decriminalised and argued that sexually explicit photographs of children should be legal unless it could be proven that the subject had suffered harm or that the an inference to that effect or to the effect that harm might have been caused could reasonably be drawn from the images themselves, with Harman arguing that it would “increase censorship”.[3] NCCL excluded PIE in 1983.[4]”

The Witch Doctor, being a benevolent soul, is telling herself that they must have meant well at the time.

But she is also telling herself that they, being of The Humankind, are extremely susceptible to Creep.

And sometimes Creep has a painful Sting in its tail.

It is surely in the public interest that they should speak out now about their thoughts both then and now about paedophilia.

It could even be that The Plebs are altogether capable of better judgement of what might lead to Creep on matters such a this.
